NOTE: In my mind a salad is only as good as the dressing you toss it with. This is my twist on the kind of sour and sweet dressings that are popular in Asian restaurants. I did a little experimenting to turn up the Chinese sesame factor, and by spicing it up with ginger and Japanese rice vinegar. This dressing is photographed on a mixed green salad composed of green romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, arugula, radicchio, endive, flat leaf parsley, and chopped green onions. However, this goes great on any salad, lettuce or cabbage, or any combination. Add tomatoes and / or cucumber slices to it if desired. This is a perfect sweet and sour dressing with an exotic and bright vinegar / honey / sesame taste to it.
Ingredients:
– 1/4 cup Honey
– 1/4 cup Sesame Oil
– 1/2 cup Rice Wine Vinegar
– 1/4 cup Sesame Seeds
– 1/8 teaspoon Salt
– 1/8 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
– 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
– 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
Directions:
Combine these ingredients in a mixing bowl, and whisk together. Or, make it in a glass jar and shake it up. Pour the dressing on top of your favorite mixture of lettuce, mixed greens, or cabbage, and enjoy!
NOTE: Although this recipe is so easy to make, its simplicity is part of its appeal. You can prepare this quickly ahead of time, or at the last minute. If you are going to take the time to make one of the entrees in this collection, you may as well serve a salad that is topped with your own personally created salad dressing to go with it!
